Identifying triggers

Alcohol is woven through every part of our lives, and anything can become a trigger to drink. There are the predictable ones: putting kids to bed; getting home after a hard day; walking past your favourite pub; having an argument; watching football; having a BBQ. Then there’s the more personal: hearing a song or particular band; the sound of the fridge door; the shutting down of your computer; putting up the Christmas decorations; finishing a DIY project; or a radio DJ’s voice.

Some of your triggers may be well-hidden, while others are glaringly obvious. Take a moment to list the ones that immediately spring to mind. They may be places, specific times, events, circumstances and people.
