In other words, a change of scenery does us good. It’s one reason holidays, mini-breaks, and day trips are so precious.
Flipping this around, how great does it also feel to come home again? To a place of sanctuary, comfort and safety, where you can shut the door on the world and keep troubling things at bay. We take time and effort to make our homes inviting and cosy for ourselves for a reason – they‘re good for our well-being.
However, even the happiest home can have an impact on our drinking. And this is true for unhappy homes too, where drinking can become a coping mechanism to deal with a difficult domestic situation.
