When you drink

Transition time

Most of us know when we’ll start drinking. Usually, it’s when the work of the day is complete, and we transition to a new time – a time for ourselves, a time to relax, a time to wind down. And the way we mark this transition has become ritualised thanks to many years of doing the same thing. Even people who no longer work feel the draw as wine or beer o’clock* approaches. And, if we’ve spent the day meeting others’ needs, we can feel a sense of entitlement.

So what can we do? We can find new rituals without alcohol to mark these transition points.
