Dealing with uncomfortable thoughts

Practice what you preach

Does letting it go sound tricky?

Do you doubt you deserve such kindness?

If a friend was bothered by uncomfortable feelings, would you not show them an act of kindness? You wouldn’t wish them to suffer, you wouldn’t judge them, and you wouldn’t be angry with them. You’d listen to them, comfort them, help them process and tell them the feelings will pass. And, as the outsider looking in, you’re in a much better position to see things rationally.

Saying your thoughts out loud, or writing them down, helps you to externalise your feelings enabling you to observe them more from an outsider’s perspective.

Going further, if an outsider’s perspective is valuable, we could also seek someone we trust as a soundboard.
