Who you drink with introduction

Just as there is a broad spectrum of drinkers, there is an equally wide spectrum of drinking habits. From social drinking to drinking alone, most of us fit somewhere in between at different times, situations and various points of our drinking career.

Perhaps you’re a gregarious social drinker who falls into the occasion and all its trappings effortlessly.

Or maybe you are more shy and introverted and, looking for ways to fit in, use alcohol to disinhibit and numb self-consciousness.

Or it could be that you now find social situations so problematic that you have grown to prefer to drink on your own. After all, if you‘re a solitary drinker, you know you’ll always be in good company!

Or drinking is interwoven through your relationship. What began on the first dates has become routine.

Whatever it is, it’s important to notice so that we can bring about change. And that doesn’t mean changing your friends or relationships; it means learning to be with people and not drink.
