One of the fascinating things about changing our drinking is our motivations and intentions change, develop and evolve. Often it starts with simple but very valid reasons, such as “I need to change my drinking for health reasons”, born out of recent events and behaviour. But over time, these motivations become more detailed and nuanced as we realise the benefits and the genuine joy of not drinking.
I encourage you to revisit your motivations and intentions over the next few days, weeks and months (don‘t worry, I’ll prompt you) to see exactly how they’ve developed. It will measure how far you’ve come and will help reinforce and reinvigorate your journey towards the life you want.
In the meantime, why not record your motivations and intentions below? Alternatively, make a note of them offline. It could be your journal or a note on your phone; wherever you decide, try to choose somewhere within easy reach.
