We’ve touched on this before, but it’s worth repeating. Take one thing at a time. If drinking is your main concern, focus on that. Even if you are well-practised in self-control, you will still need to draw on willpower from time to time. And as a finite source, we shouldn’t try and spread it thinly across more than one life change. So the Keto diet should probably wait a couple of months.
Also, is it a good idea to give up smoking and drinking simultaneously? Well, that depends on the individual and their behaviour. If smoking and drinking triggerTriggers are situations and circumstances that lead to triggering thoughts around drinking. More each other, it may be worth considering quitting smoking first – but it’s worth establishing which habit is more troublesome.
Whatever it is, whether it’s your diet, changing jobs or building an extension – it’s OK to postpone personal development projects while you focus on changing your drinking. In a few weeks from now, when you feel more in control and no longer spend a good portion of your free time drinking, you’ll have plenty of time to attack these projects with gusto.
