Facing up

Facing up starts with being truthful that not everything is OK right now and that you’re OK with that. It’s about looking in a mirror and admitting that we have uncomfortable feelings about ourselves while simultaneously recognising our strengths and positive attributes.

It’s about having the courage to face our insecurities, anxieties and fears and deciding to forge ahead despite everything. It starts with small steps – becoming strides as we grow in confidence – as we navigate towards the life we want.

And it shouldn’t be about tough love, either, but rather treating yourself with the same kindness and compassion you’d offer a friend or loved one. So try and focus on the positives, celebrate the wins, be proud of your achievements and treat yourself from time to time. You do deserve it.

Sure, there’ll likely be slip-ups along the way. But, facing up allows us to use the experience to advance, rather than hinder, our progress. No step is a misstep.
